BU includes "sexual orientation" in non-discrimination policy
Wow! I know that all of you non-BU alums will find this less than impressive, but BU's president ad interum just announced via email that they're including sexual orientation in their non-discrimination policy. This is HUGE. The entire time I was an undergrad, students were fighting for this. And the administration's response ::ahem, John Silber:: was a blatent NO. Man, I'm so impressed.
To the Members of the Boston University Community:
On December 2, 2004, the Board of Trustees endorsed my decision to
include "sexual orientation" in the University's policy statement on
non-discrimination. I wish to emphasize that this is not a change of
policy or practice, but rather a formal affirmation of our
long-standing commitment to equality of opportunity at Boston
University.
With best wishes for the upcoming holiday season.
Sincerely,
Aram V. Chobanian, M.D.
President ad interim
